This tip consists of two crucial moments. The first is to allow Siri to be activated even when iPhone is locked. This way, if necessary, you can activate it and ask it to open the camera application even remotely.
The second is voice control. Although not available in Portuguese, this is a vital accessibility feature for those who have difficulty pressing buttons on the screen. It is the same accessibility option that allows you to use verbal commands to adjust camera settings and take photos.
Use Siri to open the camera with your voice
To access the camera using just your voice, you must enable Siri access when your iPhone is locked. To do so, follow these steps:
1. First, go to “Settings” on your iPhone.
2. Now, drag down and click on “Siri and Search”.
3. Here, activate the “Allow with locked screen” option.
Notes to consider:
- If you want to activate Siri with your iPhone locked without having to press a button to call it, then you must also go to “Activate when listening” > '”Siri” or “Hey Siri”'.
- (!) By activating the “Hey Siri” option when your smartphone is locked, someone can (theoretically) access information such as your contacts, send text messages, view your calendar appointments and make calls.
- To open the camera, simply tell Siri “open camera” (English) or “open the camera” (Portuguese).
Enable Voice Control on iPhone
One of the features that adds a touch of convenience to the daily use of our smartphone is voice control. If you're tired of clicking menus and options to perform simple tasks like taking photos on your iPhone, voice commands came to help you.
To start using voice control on your iPhone, you first need to make sure it's turned on. For that:
1. Access “Settings”.
2. Drag down and click on “Accessibility”.
3. Now, click on “Voice Control”.
4. Activate voice control
Once this is done, the iPhone is ready to follow your voice commands. Now, you can conveniently control various iPhone functions using just your voice.
Notes to consider:
- Voice control is available on iPhones running iOS 13 and later.
- It is not available in Portuguese.
- Voice control must be in the same language as the device. To change the language, go to “Settings” > “General” > “Language and region” and choose the language you want (in our case, English).
With voice control, you no longer need to fumble with your smartphone or manually locate camera options. This provides a hassle-free and hands-free experience.
