With the growth of online businesses that have become increasingly frequent, the number of online purchases has also increased year after year in Angola, revealed the most recent report from Interbank Services Company (EMIS).

The sharp growth recorded in the value of online purchases in the first six months of this year is a reflection of the increase in the number of operations. In the period under review, users carried out a total of 4,2 million online shopping operations, which represents a growth of 547% compared to the same period last year.

Another factor contributing to this growth is the Multicaixa network's Online Payment Gateway, launched in 2021, which allows payment for products and services without card reading on websites or virtual sales stores through digital channels, that is, it allows purchases and selling products completely online. Payment can be made using all cards issued by Angolan banks.

The emergence of the Covid-19 pandemic was also another factor in the dissemination of this service, which also grew due to the difficulties in accessing ATMs, allowing us to avoid long queues and the enormous constraints that occur when accessing physical money.
