A group of Angolan players is moving to seek the professionalization of electronic sports in the country. The information was obtained through a group on Steam, the Angolan Gamers Association (AGA).

Gamers created in 2018 a plan for the development of e-sports in the country, with the intention that if, by 2020, no officialization occurred, they would themselves take the necessary initiatives to put Angola on the map of electronic sports. The year has come, no official action has been taken and now they are moving to make it happen.

The manifesto stresses the importance of Angola joining the International Federation of Electronic Sports, the IeSF. Currently, only four countries on the African continent are part of the Federation, which was created in 2008 with the aim of assisting in the Olympic legitimacy of e-sports: Egypt, Namibia, South Africa and Tunisia.

According to the document, Angola needs to make up for lost time in relation to the internal organization of e-sports in the country, providing conditions for young talents to emerge in the most different games. The idea is to request from the Ministry of Youth and Sports the creation of the Angolan Federation of Electronic Sports. It is worth remembering that some European countries already created public policies for e-sports.

In addition to this manifesto, the Angolan community on Steam, which is the largest gaming platform in the world, has other internal organization processes: a platform for Angolan gamers, called Go Gaming, is being developed with the support of Angola Cables.

A GoGaming it is still very recent: it started its activities at the end of last year. However, even in a short time he has even organized competitions. The idea is to welcome all Angolan gamers on a platform and, thus, achieve the necessary organization for the professionalization and legitimation of sports.

The growth of electronic sports in the country depends on the democratization of games in general. Until recently, it was necessary to invest heavily in assembling the necessary equipment to run the games with quality, while today, many of the games that rely on professional players are available even for smartphones. And the investment is very low: just have a mobile control to play at a high level.

Check the full summons made in the group:

“In 2018, we shared the Plan for the Rise of Electronic Sports in Angola, with the aim of giving individuals and groups who were interested in taking the initiative to do so, the promise of giving initiative in 2020 if no one did.

So, and because until then nothing has been said about any such official occurrences, we are informing you that the train is going to start and everyone is invited to embark on this wonderful journey towards the infinite and beyond!

“Dare to be bold. Forge your own path to greatness. ””

  1. I have lived in Angola for years, and I have never heard of any gamer community willing to make such a thing happen. Still I am happy to see that the future promises.

  2. There are many gaming communities in the country, the problem is that they are dissociated from each other even because they play different games. There are many focused only on PES, others on FIFA, CALL OF DUTY, MORTAL KOMBAT, etc ...
I think that the ideal would be, in the first phase, to be all united regardless of the different games we play.
