CPLP academic communities must expand the use of ICTs, argues Government

The academic communities of Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) should expand the use of ICTs, aiming to contribute to the quality of scientific and technological research, in the opinion of the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Maria do Rosário Bragança.

The leader who spoke at the opening of the 1st Conference on science at CPLP and at the launch of the Angolan open access repository, said that the inclusion, promotion and guarantee of scientific dissemination must also be part of the widespread use of ICTs and contribute to the quality of academic research.

According to Maria do Rosário Bragança, the National Development Plan (PDN) 2023 – 2027) contains actions to face the challenges of scientific research, technological innovation and entrepreneurship.

He explained that among the actions of the UNI.AO program, the creation of a scientific publishing platform stands out, which, in a collaborative effort between the two initiatives, results in the creation of the Angolan open access repository.

With the creation of this platform (RanAA), he said, the Angolan Executive hopes that there will be greater dissemination of national scientific publications, in order to improve quality and quantity indicators, in the region and in the world.

The executive secretary of the CPLP, João Ima Panzo, informed that the event symbolizes a crucial step in consolidating scientific and technological cooperation between CPLP member states, promoting open science in the commitment to the United Nations 2030 agenda for sustainable development .

João Ima Panzo said that Open Science represents an innovative approach to the scientific process, based on collaboration, sharing and dissemination of knowledge, enhanced by digital technologies.
