The resolution relating to regulatory measures on the use of satellite orbit was approved, the most direct beneficiaries of which will be African, European and Asian countries.

According to the report released at the end of the World Radiocommunications Conference, the document includes the identification of new orbital positions and appropriate channel frequencies and protects radio frequency and satellite resources from degraded assignments in regions 1 (Africa and Europe) and 3 (Asia).

The statement is more favorable for African countries that saw their orbital positions most affected.

Region 2 comprises the American continent, which was not affected, which is why it is exempt from the list.

Within the scope of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) Satellite Sharing Project, Angola assumes leadership of the Governance Structure Steering Committee and coordinates the Project Management Office, responsible for technical issues.

As for Angola, the note highlights that the country helped in the training of Member States, in handling the tools of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) and analyzing the processing of data obtained, in order to restore their degraded orbital positions, in light of the Resolution 559.

With the resolution, African orbital space, in general, and in Angola, in particular, will no longer be invaded and will continue to respond to notifications from the International Telecommunications Union, with the aim of avoiding any degradation of space resources.

Furthermore, Resolution 559 guarantees countries equitable access to the orbit of geostationary satellites in the fixed service frequency bands covered by the Radiocommunications Regulation.

One of the concerns of African countries is the identification, for the Implementation of International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT-2020), known as 5G, of certain frequencies already allocated and used for fixed satellite services, which continues to be vital for the nations of the continent. -cradle.
