According to new information, users of LinkedIn now they have to be very careful, since a new virus called “Locky”Included in the category of ransomware. This type of virus takes over the operating system in order to request a payment from you so that access to your files is returned to you.

Composition and Function:

This virus is composed of an encrypted file and disguised in a random image and is spreading on LinkedIn and Facebook. It works as follows: If the user falls into the error of opening the image, it is sent via the chat of a social network where the computer will be infected and the user will have to pay an amount required by the owner of the virus to return the access.

According to some information, those in charge of the company CheckPoint have already contacted the two social networks to warn of the problem, but it is not yet known what measures are being taken by LinkedIn and Facebook.

How to avoid or abstain from this virus? 

So far, no way has been found to combat this problem, so the only advisable way to date is to avoid contagion, just that the user does not download of any image that is sent through social networks, so as not to run the risk of being the infected file.
