VLC media player is definitely one of the best audio and video player programs, no matter it is for Windows, macOS or Linux operating system. In today's edition of Consultório MenosFios we will show you how to install add-ons/extensions in VLC, as well as through the VideoLan website.

VLC is created by VideoLAN, where its operability allows you to play almost all common video and music formats, even the iconic DVD, as well as works with subtitles and is completely free. Only the base version of the application is full of features, but even so it is possible to improve its performance and enhance its use, which is why the editors of MenosFios consider that it is mandatory the same be on any computer as a standard multimedia player.

So, now see the steps so that you can install add-on/extensions on that multimedia player.

Install Add-Ons/Extension through VLC

Open VLC and click on “Tools > Add-ons and Extensions🇧🇷 If you have never installed an add-on/extension in VLC that you have installed, then the list will be empty. Then click on “Search more on the Internet” at the bottom. Once the list is updated, the button will disappear.

You can click on the various categories that appear, or use the search box at the top, that is, if you know which extension you want to install. Advise that the information in the descriptions is short, but not a need to return to the site to read a more complete description or explanation. Click on an add-on and then on the “More information…🇧🇷 If you are satisfied, just click on the “Install".

After a few seconds, a short green indication will appear, notifying you that the extension is installed. Click in "Close” to complete the process.

Install Add-Ons/Extensions through the VideoLan website

enter the site https://addons.videolan.org/browse and do a search. Once you've found the add-on you want to install, you'll have to check if it works with the version of VLC you have installed on your device. You can see what your version of the program is by using the key combination “Shift+F1” in VLC.

Click the blue button “downloand🇧🇷 The picture above shows a box with two download options: the main download site or a “mirror(mirror)“, which is an exact copy of the file, stored on a second server. We recommend that you click on the first one: “downloand".

After the download is done, open a new “File Explorer” and go to the folder “Downloads🇧🇷 Click with the right mouse button (mouse) on the file you just downloaded (LUA) and copy it to the folder “Extensions” from the directory VLC: “Programs > VideoLAN > VLC > lua”.

Now, go back to VLC and click on “Tools”>“Extras and Extensions”>“active extensions“: the add/on you just installed must be visible.
