The Communications Regulators Association of Southern Africa (CRASA) advocated the development of the telecommunications and postal sectors in order to boost the region's technological progress.

According to the organization's acting president, Joaquim Muongo, at the opening of the 34th Ordinary Meeting of the CRASA Executive Committee, the Association's intention is to accelerate the development of Telecommunications and Postal in the Southern Region.

According to the interim President of the Board of Directors of the Angolan Communications Institute (INACOM), the Association must also have greater integration to resolve licensing cases, service provision, consumer protection, among others.

During the two-day meeting in the country's capital, Luanda, participants were able to analyze, report and exchange experiences on technology and social communication in Southern Africa, as well as discuss the annual operational plan and the reports of the Specialty Committee on Southern Africa.

The executive secretary of CRASA, Bridget Mphatso, considered the current state of technologies and communication in the region to be stable, having subsequently recognized “the important role” that Angola has played in Southern Africa.

It should be remembered that Angola assumed the presidency of CRASA for the period 2022/2023, at the last annual general assembly that took place in April 2022, in Luanda.

The effective members of CRASA include South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Congo, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
