The municipality of Ndalatando, in Cuanza Norte province, now has a new meteorological station, as part of the National Meteorological Services project, aimed at improving weather information and preventing natural phenomena in the country.

According to Maria Manuela Tavares, responsible for meteorological services in the province, the work completed last May included the sealing of the space and the implementation of a kinetic station, which includes a pluviometer, air and wind data acquisition equipment, ultrasonik and solar panel. .

The meteorological station, which already has a connection with the computer equipment, will be used to observe phenomena, prevent natural catastrophes, control the volume of rainfall, support agriculture and civil construction, as well as provide information about the weather.

Maria Manuela Tavares also revealed that in the near future work will start on the construction of another agro-meteorological station, in the municipality of Samba Cajú, with the aim of controlling atmospheric precipitation and supporting agricultural activity.

BUT: Angola will have more than 65 meteorological stations

The official also underlined that this Ndalatando station will be controlled locally, while the Samba-Cajú station, once completed, will be monitored from Luanda, the country's capital.

Finally, Maria Manuela added that the installation of these stations, which include equipment of French origin, stems from the fact that the province of Cuanza Norte is struggling with meteorological control difficulties, due to the previous station, located in Ndalatando, being quite old-fashioned and be absolute. Currently, it only guarantees information about temperature and relative humidity.
