Holo Lens

Imagine entering a stand and not finding cars. Ask the seller if you can see the catalog and he delivers some “futuristic” glasses so that he can see the car in as much detail as possible. This is the idea of Volvo, which in partnership with Microsoft, will allow demonstrations of its cars to be made based on virtual reality, using HoloLens.

Starting next year, Volvo will be able to show details like collision avoidance, and several possible customization options - through holograms. The two companies involved recently made a display of the system prototype at Microsoft’s headquarters in Redmond using the next Volvo Sedan S90. Thanks to augmented reality, they were able to not only display unpublished holographic models of the car unpublished but also cross-sections of their parts.

Participants were also able to customize the car's color and bumper, walk around the hologram to see it from all angles. The project may even include the ability for the user to sit inside a real vehicle and make a Test Drive using virtual reality.

So Microsoft is beginning to show the strength of the  HoloLens, having already visited 11 cities in the US and Canada, in an effort to attract developers to buy HoloLens next year, which will be available for "only" for 3.000 USD (or approximately 407.000,00 Kwanzas).

Microsoft's partnership with volvo seems to be just beginning…
