Challenges of digital acceleration is the theme of the IV Conference on Digital Transformation

The IV Conference on Digital Transformation took place today (23), at the Hotel Epic Sana, under the theme “The Challenges of Digital Acceleration in Angola”, organized by the magazine Economia & Mercado, with the presence of MenosFios.

According to the speakers at the event, there is a Age of Digital Acceleration, which has been driven by various factors and phenomena, the most recent being the Covid-19 pandemic which, while negatively affecting the countries’ economies, reinforced the importance of developing a stronger digital economy (local and global) and inclusive and created opportunities for digital business development.

Based on this line of thought, the IV Conference had a wide range of guests, who in three hours of conversation analyzed various aspects of digital acceleration in our country, such as investment in infrastructure as a starting point for digital acceleration, namely the digital transformation, the cost of telecommunications in Angola and the training of staff and the challenges of the national technology industry.

On the edge of the conference participants, Eng. Crisóstomo Mbundu (Acelera Net Program Manager at Angola Cables), Eng Matias Borges (National Director of Telecommunications and Technologies), Dr. José Silva (CEO of IpWorld) and Dr. Antonio Pinto (Marketing Director at NCR), who in a fully interactive panel addressed the need to create a strategy for the development of technological infrastructures in our country, as well as the creation of a local software industry, given that Angola still spends huge sums in imported technological services.

It should also be noted that the IV Conference on Digital Transformation did not end there, where there was still time to talk about means of payment, focusing on the new instant transfer system and its impact on financial inclusion in our country.

To add added value of knowledge to the above topic, the magazine Economia & Mercado brought Eng. André Guerreiro (EMIS Payments Specialist) and Eng. Eduardo dos Anjos Martins Pinto(Unitel Money).

At the end of the event, those present were treated to a round table, with Dr Pedro Abreu (EMIS Executive Director), Dr. Pedro Garcia (Executive Director of Life at Sanlam), Dr. Jorge Cardoso(Director General of COSEBA), Eng. Eduardo Pinto (Director of Operations and Technologies /Unitel Sistemas de Pagamentos Móveis) and Dr. Yuri Tyikoti (Executive Director of GUITA Digital Wallet / BNI), who together analyzed instant transfers, digitization of payments and their impact on financial inclusion and dynamization of businesses and services.

It should also be noted that the event had bank managers, telecommunications companies and representatives of public entities, such as the National Bank of Angola and the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies and Social Communication, and the background of the IV E&M Conference on Digital Transformation aimed to analyze how the national government and the The private sector, with emphasis on Banking, Insurance and ICT companies, are leading this process, covering topics such as mobile payments, financial inclusion, communication challenges and the main solutions available on the market, without forgetting to look at sector trends in the SADC region.

Although more than 80 people physically attended the event, it had a much larger audience, due to access to the event through digital platforms, namely Zoom and Facebook and the website of the Economy & Market.
