The development of domestic production will have to rely on technology, according to Agricultiva's Business Development Director, João Germano e Silva.

The specialist who was speaking at the V Conference on Agriculture, addressed the great need for the country to encourage national production to achieve sovereign autonomy in the food sector, stressing the great role of technology in the sector.

"Our vision, and where we think we can help, is in technology. The Angolan government intends, by 2027, to multiply rice production by 20, maize by 2 and the livestock sector by almost 20. Increasing productivity per hectare these crops will be possible with technology“, said the manager.

Still in his approach, João Germano highlighted that his company will bring “to the equation and to the market the technological component and the component of knowledge transferred to the community".

"We have to create intrinsic conditions to take care of our production and not always depend on the outside“, he reiterated.

The event brought together several agribusiness specialists, producers, public and private managers, in particular from the financial sector, to assess the results of financing the productive sector, agricultural credit and programs to promote family farming and to strengthen distribution chains and commercialization.
