Highlights of the forum on World Telecommunication and Information Society Day

Today (Tuesday, 17 of May) marks the world day of the Telecommunications and the Information Society . Alluding to the day, the Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies provided a forum with several guests and speakers on topics such as “The new licensing regime for the ICT sector“,“Diversification of the economy","ICT Business Opportunities","Entrepreneurs and ICT"and "Angosat 1 - Challenges, benefits and opportunities".

Much has been said in this workshop and MenosFios highlights some of the main phrases of the day:

“The regime will have a significant impact on the diversification of the economy because it will allow the creation of new electronic communications operators, new service providers and even small companies will be able to support all activity related to the sector and will allow the creation of regional operators. "

The Administrator spoke of the new regime which will allow solving some inconsistencies and irregularities that exist in the current market context, as regards the provision of electronic communications networks and services. He also learned that the technical documents are now being finalized to start the process of licensing new operators.

“We could not have the internet on phones with the quality we currently have, which is now possible” (…) “We will continue to work, improve network structures and continue to create strategies so that each more citizens can have access to information and communication technologies ”.

Diogo de Carvalho said that as the infrastructure is increased, there will be large bandwidths up to customers' homes and an improvement in their quality of communication and internet service.

"It is an artificial geostationary satellite, located 36 1000 kilometers at sea level and has the same speed of rotation of the earth that manages to cover a third of the terrestrial globe."

According to the Director, the completion of the control and mission center is scheduled for November this year, while the launch in orbit of the satellite will take place in the first quarter of 2017. He recalled that the process began in October of 2013 and started the 19 of November of the same year. Angosat 1 is being built in Russia and the satellite control and mission center is located in the commune of Funda, municipality of Cacuaco

The Minister spoke of the vast areas of investment and made it known that the sector is growing and the indicators are the number of users in the country. He also said that the Ministry understands that this practice should be promoted in the citizen, starting with the academic environment and the challenges we face should be considered by all as business opportunities taking advantage of existing infrastructure and complementarity.
