The predominant language in Cabinda - “Ibinda”, also known as “Fyote”, gains a new ally for its preservation. With the objective of distributing content about language, facilitating its learning to the various interested parties, Flávio Barros, who currently works as a senior software developer in South Africa, dedicated himself to his colleague Júlio Camilo, in the creation of the Ibinda Dictionary, which started to be released in July 2020.
The application brings with it several attractions:
- The Dictionary - for searching and translating the various words from the Portuguese language to Ibinda;
- Grammar - for learning grammatical rules (phonetics, spelling, morphology and syntax);
- Test of knowledge acquired through interactive quizzes.
This application has its content based on the writings of some books of the Father and Writer, José Silvino Sambo Mazunga, already nominated several times as one of the great writers of the Culture of the People of Cabinda. Which embraced this project from the beginning.

According to Flávio Barros, it is intended to reach schools, families, youth and adults with this application, and to make sure that the Ibinda language receives its due value, and is recognized as an integral part of the culture, not only of the people of Cabinda, but Angola as a whole, and even for tourists, as the country has invested great efforts in creating an ecosystem capable of attracting and accelerating tourism in the country.
