The company that owns Facebook and Instagram states that a new policy that aims to use content shared by users will serve to “develop and improve” Artificial Intelligence, starting on June 26th.
According to Meta, the 'networks' will start using publications, photographs, captions, comments and stories to “develop and improve“Artificial Intelligence”.
Although the company is confident that this new approach complies with privacy laws, complaints have already been filed with data protection authorities in Europe.
The changes in question come into force from June 26th, but... there is a way for users to protect themselves from this use by Meta, by doing so via their mobile phone, and refusing the changes.
You will need to fill out a form and justify it, but here is how to protect yourself:
No Facebook
- Login to the account;
- Click on Settings and privacy;
- Click on Settings;
- Scroll down to the Privacy Center option.
BUT: Meta already launched paid subscriptions for Facebook and Instagram
After these steps, you will be presented with a message, which will contain a link that talks about the 'right to object', which you must click – thus accessing the form necessary to refuse this use.
No Instagram
- Click on the three bars;
- Scroll down to 'About' and click on 'Privacy Policy';
- On the page, a section will appear that says 'Opposition', which you must click on and, from there, like Facebook, click on 'right to object' – thus accessing the form.
