The company responsible for Facebook and Instagram, Meta, admitted that he is training his Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology using all public posts made on his social networks since 2007.
According to 9to5mac, the information was shared by Meta's global privacy officer, Melinda Claybaug, during an investigation in Australia. Note that the possibility of Meta training its AI with posts made on its social networks had already been announced by the company's founder and CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
"The truth is that, unless they decided to make posts made since 2007 private, Meta decided to collect all the photos and text from all public posts on Instagram and Facebook since then. That's the reality, isn't it?", asked an Australian senator. “Correct”, Claybaugh replied.
BUT: Facebook lost 3,6 billion with the metaverse in early 2023
Even though this was admitted, Meta noted that it did not collect posts from users under 18, adding that it only includes photos of children that have been shared by their parents on their respective accounts.
