The biggest fair in the video game market returns to the old face-to-face format next year, but some changes are planned to improve the experience of the different types of visitors to the event.

One of the biggest world fairs and conferences in the video game sector is back in 2023. After this year being canceled by the organization, the E3 returns to Los Angeles in June, in a live edition in color, but with some nuances.

The event promoted by the Entertainment Software Association (ESA) will take place between June 13th and 16th, at the Los Angeles Convention Center and in this next edition it will divide the days of the event between industry and video game enthusiasts, to try to provide a better experience to each one. of these audiences.

Thus, the fair's Business Days take place between the 13th and 15th of June and only allow access to the event to those in the video game industry, who will have an easier time promoting contacts and experiencing new things, without other visitors in the same space. The general public will be able to access the event on the 15th and 16th, during the Gamers Days. The program for this year's edition also provides for a set of digital events, starting on June 11th.

BUT: ESA confirms E3 will be held in 2023 in live and digital format

This year's E3 was initially planned as an online-only edition, but ended up being cancelled. Already the year before, in 2021, the event took place only online because of Covid-19, which in 2022 again affected the organization's plans and which in 2020 had already forced the total cancellation of the fair.

In an interview with The Washington Post, Stan Pierre-Louis reiterated that the organization still believes that E3 remains relevant in the gaming industry and the usual version is needed: “As much as we love these digital events, and as much as they reach more people, and we want that global reach, we also know that there is a strong desire for people to come together, to have the ability to connect in person.".

In recent years, E3 has lost some momentum, especially with the departure of important names from the event, such as Sony. With the cancellation of the last two physical editions of the fair, other events emerged and revealed their ability to spread news in the sector, such as the Summer Game Fest, presented by journalist Geoff Keighley, which in 2023 should take place again in June, but now again with competition from E3.
