EMIS launches direct discount service to bank accounts

Anyone who has had the opportunity to live in other more developed countries knows that payment for some occasional services is normally made by direct debit, thus preventing people from moving around unnecessarily to make payments.

A Interbank Services Company (EMIS) launched a new payment system called the Direct Debit System (SDD), which allows bank customers to authorize a debit (direct discount) from their account, for recurring payments or installments resulting from the acquisition of goods on credit. EMIS clarifies that this payment system allows any bank customer to authorize a debit from their account, for payments for services such as the supply of water, energy, telecommunications, pay television, gas, insurance, house rent, tuition fees or installments resulting from the acquisition of goods on credit.

What are the advantages of the direct debit service?

One of the advantages of SDD is that customers do not have to go to bank branches to make the aforementioned payments for recurring services, as well as avoiding the cancellation of the service to be paid for due to the beneficiary's forgetfulness. Another benefit of this system is automatic billing, without delays in receipts and reduces costs, and can be implemented in post-payment and pre-payment modes.

The SDD also has the advantage of being completely 'interoperable', that is, the debtors (client) and the creditor entity (service provider) can be domiciled in different banks, with the service supported by a set of rules that provide robust guarantees to the parties involved.

Which companies are already using the direct debit service?

At this point, the aforementioned system is already in operation with several entities, such as DSTV, ENSA, Global Seguros, Nossa Seguros and ZAP Media, and other service providers are in the process of joining. For EMIS, the operationalization of the Direct Debit System represents an important milestone for the modernization of the Angolan financial system, contributing positively to transforming the way of making and receiving payments.

  1. This information is very important and I would very much like ENDE to adhere to the EMIS SDD now, because 3 months ago there was a fraud in their BASE DATE in which they simulated late invoices (June and July) while the customer paid September on time... ENDE must now join.
