The US Federal Trade Commission has the 'green light' to move forward with the process it intends to oblige Meta (formerly known as Facebook) to sell some of its subsidiaries, namely the WhatsApp and Instagram, reveals the Business Insider.

According to the news, federal judge James Boasberg, who is in charge of the process, rejected the request to annul the case made by Meta last December, and which means that the judge considered that there were sufficient arguments to be considered that Meta holds a monopoly and therefore the case will be tried in court.

"We are confident that the evidence will reveal the fundamental weaknesses of these arguments. Our investments in Instagram and WhatsApp have made us what we are today. They were good for the competition and good for the people and companies that chose to use our products.” reads in the statement.
