Company pays 500.000 USD to anyone who breaks WhatsApp security

For almost two years, the Zerodium delivered 1 Million Dollars to the Group that discovered a flaw in iOS 9, by unlocking an Apple device with iOS 9 remotely, through a text message or by the browser.

It seems that the company is back with yet another tempting proposal for the hacker community, as it is offering money to a company or group that manages to bypass WhatsApp encryption, where it guarantees up to 500.000 USD for tools that allow remote code execution and access to local privileges in applications. Basically, the company wants the ability to log into WhatsaApp remotely without the user realizing it.

É It is important to emphasize that the company wants the power to break more than just the security of WhatsApp, the company still wants tools for remote removal of an iPhone, where it is possible to earn up to 1,5 million USD.

Like himself Mashable points out, the fact that flaws in WhatsApp have entered the “menu” of Zerodium may be a good sign. This probably indicates that the company is not yet aware of flaws in this application, and that, for now, it is safe.

On the other hand, the more likely it is that the existence of these premiums will lead hackers to work at doubled pace to find ways to violate the application. The best way to protect yourself in this case is to keep your applications and operating systems as up to date as possible.

Will the hackers discover any flaw in the application?
