Error in security key exchange blocks users from Elon Musk's X platform.

The X platform (formerly Twitter), owned by Elon Musk[Company Name] faces yet another controversy following a technical error related to the recent change in authentication security keys. Several users have reported on social media that they were stuck in endless login loops or had their accounts locked out due to a flaw in the new security configuration.

The problem arose after X announced on October 24th that users who use access keys or hardware security keys (such as YubiKeys) for two-factor authentication should register again through the new x.com domain. According to the company, this measure was part of the transition and definitive deactivation process of the old twitter.com domain, which has been redirecting to x.com since May 2024.

However, the security keys are digitally linked to the original Twitter domain and cannot be automatically transferred to the new domain. In practice, this forces users to manually reconfigure their keys on x.com. The company had already warned that, after November 10th, anyone who did not update their authentication method could be blocked until they completed the new registration or chose another form of two-step verification.

With the deadline passed, many users are now reporting authentication errors and being unable to access their accounts, even after trying to repeat the process on the new domain. This situation has generated criticism and frustration among users, especially those who depend on X for work or professional communication.

So far, Xbox has not responded to requests for comment, while Elon Musk continues to post normally on the platform, seemingly unaffected by the outage that left many of its users without access.
