Applications are now open to meet the Black Voices Fund Class of 2023 (Black Voices Background), program of Youtube that recognizes and honors black content creators, as well as artist songwriters and producers so that they can prosper professionally using the platform.

The Black Voices Fund, which brings together hundreds of musicians and content creators to celebrate black pride and highlight authentic stories on YouTube, has found over 300 “creators” around the world since it launched in 2020, in countries like Australia , Brazil, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa and the United States, and where we can find musicians, beauty entrepreneurs, comedians, activists, poets, personal trainers, parents, photographers, players, among others.

"The African creative community is full of talented, bright, passionate and driven creatives, and it is an honor to equip these talented creators and artists with additional resources to match their drive. At YouTube, we've always tried to facilitate the rise of diverse voices, including gender and race. Through the Black Voices Fund, in the last two years we have been able to amplify the perspectives and experiences of these different creators,” said Solafunmi Sosanya, Leader of YouTube Nigeria.

For the next class, the “creators” selected for the program will receive economic funding that will be invested in the development of their YouTube channels, as well as receiving dedicated support and the opportunity to participate in training programs, workshops and personalized networking programs .

In addition to committing $100 million to the YouTube Black Voices Fund, YouTube also reported that it has teamed up with community-based groups to build the program. Future Insiders, – specifically targeting over 180 at-risk and economically disadvantaged students who are interested in a future in music and creative professions.

Program participants will participate in quarterly sessions covering YouTube success, career paths, accessing talent, and thought leaders and wellness.

According to what was revealed, the class of 2021 included 133 scholarship holders from the United States, Kenya, United Kingdom, Brazil, Australia, South Africa and Nigeria, with 26 African content creators and artists.

Among the big names on the show, coming from Africa, we highlight reality artist Lasizwe Dambuza, personal trainer and health and wellness advocate Mitchelle Adagala, musician Sho Madjozi and TV presenter, businesswoman and actress Tomike Adeoye.
