In this second part, we present another summary of the points highlighted by João Lourenço in his speech on the State of the Nation. Throughout his speech, the Head of State presented data and measures that reinforce the commitment to scientific research, technological training, and the practical application of knowledge, essential pillars for economic diversification and national sovereignty.
Encouraging scientific research and technological innovation
João Lourenço announced the continuity of the National Science and Innovation Award, an initiative that aims to recognize the merit and stimulate the creativity of Angolan researchers and innovators. The award, now in its second year, represents an important step in encouraging the production of scientific knowledge of public and business utility.
The President also announced that the Luanda Science and Technology Park is nearing completion, along with the rehabilitation of the National Center for Scientific Research, which will house six reference laboratories. According to the Head of State, these facilities mark a new phase in the country's scientific and technological development, creating conditions for Angola to advance in applied research and technology transfer.
Training and qualification in technological areas
The speech also highlighted the role of vocational and technological training as a foundation for the country's sustainable growth. João Lourenço noted that there are currently more than 305 training specialties, covering sectors such as technology, IT, construction, arts and crafts, agriculture, and tourism.

The President emphasized that one of the country's greatest challenges is adapting training to the real needs of the labor market, which is why the Executive intends to expand training offerings in areas with the greatest potential for absorbing skilled labor. This commitment aims to prepare Angolan youth for the demands of the global market and reduce dependence on foreign labor in technical sectors.
Technological sovereignty and marine scientific research
The Head of State recalled the acquisition of the oceanographic vessel "Baía Farta," which has become a symbol of Angola's technological and scientific sovereignty in the marine domain. The vessel has enabled the country to conduct scientific research on the high seas, reinforcing national autonomy in the exploration and management of ocean resources.
João Lourenço emphasized that investing in technology and knowledge is fundamental to Angola's assertion as a state capable of generating its own sustainable solutions adapted to its economic and environmental realities.
The 2025 State of the Nation address confirmed science and technology as strategic axes of national development.
