Second Kaspar Korjus, director of the state e-Residência program, and the idea is that these cryptocurrencies will benefit Estonia and its international e-residents.

The fact that the citizens of Estonia already have a digital identification system would allow this to happen more easily.

Korjus explains that there are several ways to manage this kind of funds, but that one option would be to replicate the structure of the Norwegian oil fund: money raised through ICO would be invested in public and private operations, which would make Estonia evolve as the digital nation.

With the launch of this digital currency, Estonia wants to be the first country to set up a digital investment fund, which would have an initial currency supply (ICO), equivalent to the initial public offerings (IPO) that already exist in the markets and companies are listed on the stock exchange.

The founder of the digital currency Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin, stated that an ICO within the E-residency ecosystem would create a strong alignment incentive between e-residents and the fund and, in addition to the economic aspect, this would make e-residents feel more like a community because there is more things they could do together.
