Since Huawei was banned from the US that the US government has been trying to migrate all platforms that used the company's hardware to other entities. However, this process may take longer than originally anticipated… and it will be considerably more expensive.

De in order to remove all Huawei and ZTE equipment from the 4G and 5G infrastructure of the USA, the government claims that it will need another 3 billion dollars for this task. Confirmation of this need was left by the FCC during a meeting held with some senators.

If confirmed, this may indicate that the removal of all Huawei and ZTE equipment from the country's infrastructure may be considerably more expensive than initially estimated. In the beginning, the government had given an initial value of 1.9 billion dollars for the task.

However, Jessica Rosenworcel, chairman of the FCC, recently stated that the figure could be considerably higher, moving to the $4.98 billion needed in total to change the entire infrastructure.

BUT: Huawei could dominate the market if there were no sanctions, says executive

Even though the idea to remove all Huawei and ZTE infrastructure in the country was approved in 2019, the idea is still considerably difficult to become a reality, with obstacles and delays compared to the plans that were initially created.

If additional funds are not provided for the task, the FCC says it will use existing funds to remove equipment from the two Chinese companies only from infrastructure that depends on government funds to function or from entities that have direct contracts with the government.
