The Angolan Executive has already invested more than US$3,7 billion in green energy, which is energy generated from natural and renewable raw materials, such as water, air, heat from the Earth and the Sun. Its main differential is the environmental impact it causes: green energy produces very little pollution.

The amounts spent were revealed by the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, Ottoniel dos Santos, speaking at the “International Conference and Business Mission on Renewable Energy”, reiterating that these figures include around 755 million dollars throughout the year 2022, having added, on the other hand, that energy projects in the financial framework phase throughout the territory total around 5,28 billion dollars.

BUT: Renewable energies will cover 2,4 million Angolan citizens

According to the Secretary, it is crucial to ensure the attractiveness of private investment in the energy and water sector, mainly in the field of renewable energy, based on its importance in maintaining public debt at perfectly sustainable levels.

Finally, Ottoniel dos Santos stressed that the objective is to ensure that 60% of the population has access to electricity, where the State is through public investment projects in photovoltaic solar energy, to give its impetus to improving the numbers, which now stand at 42%, said the Secretary of State for Finance and Treasury, who among the projects, pointed to the installation of photovoltaic solar power stations in Benguela and Biópio, in the provinces of Benguela, Cuíto, Bailundo, Lucapa, in Luena and Saurimo, with private initiative projects also being launched in the provinces of Huíla and Namibe.
