Facebook bets on copyright agreements with music producers

O Facebook is offering hundreds of thousands of dollars to music publishers so that social network users can legally add music to the videos they post.

Publishers and song rights holders have been negotiating with Facebook for several months to find a solution to this issue. The company led by Mark Zuckerberg has promised to create a system that identifies songs that do not respect copyright.

The decision comes after there has been an explosion of publications and video views on Facebook.

Many users are now frequently using images and music whose usage rights are not guaranteed by the social network. This prompts many rights holders to require Facebook to remove the publications in question.

The information comes soon after the social network launches in the United States the Watch, its integrated Facebook video platform. The platform was launched in the United States, but still has little content, and ordinary users still can not publish productions in the service.

The agreement may take two years to complete, a period considered too long, according to sources linked to the case.
