Last month, the Facebook was the scene of an auction of a couple of years 17. The case happened in the Southern Sudan. After seeing the post announced the wedding, men began to wage a real bidding war, until in the end the young woman was bought by a wealthy businessman to be his wife.

A photo accompanied the publication. According to the children's rights organization Plan International, five men participated in the auction and some of them were from the top echelons of the country's government. Facebook said it deleted the post as soon as it became aware of the action.

Any form of human trafficking, whether from posts, pages, ads or groups that coordinate this activity, is not allowed on Facebook, ”a Facebook spokesman told Thouson Reuters. However, the company's action was not in time for the deal to be completed. The young woman was bought by a businessman who reportedly gave the girl's father more than 500 cows, three luxury cars and $ 10.000 as a dowry. The wedding took place on November 03rd.

This case, unfortunately, is just one example of abuse made within Facebook in developing countries. Recently, in Myanmar, more than 700 members of the Rohingya community were forced to leave the country due to the ethnic violence spread in social media posts.

Child marriage is already an illegal practice in South Sudan, but it continues to happen even with government and defense efforts to make it extinct.
