After information emerges that the Facebook Messenger would have an option that allows you to save data consumption, the application now has a new feature “chat room” that unfortunately is not yet available for all countries. The limited release of this feature serves as a test to see if the Facebook you can encourage broader, more public conversations focused on specific topics.

Through this feature, users can create their own rooms through the Messenger application, invite members, approve new members, set a nickname for themselves, configure notifications and much more. It is important to differentiate things, this feature is different from group conversations, because it is focused on talking around specific topics with people you may or may not know. the usual groups, on the other hand, are usually united by family and friends that the person knows or by a group of mutual friends.

Second Drew Moxon (Messenger product manager), said the feature was designed to stop users from bothering friends with issues they are not interested in. He also said that, “Group chats are currently focused on people you know (friends and family), and the company believes there is a great need for a conversation service on specific topics”. The new feature will be for topic-based conversations, so people can chat with others they may not know. ”

However, once made available to all countries, users will be able to define chat rooms as private and will only allow other people to join when they are approved by an administrator. The feature will also be tested in Canada before it is made available to users worldwide.

What use will users in Angola give to these chats, productive debates or not?
