Many of the services and proposals that Facebook offers users are based on their location. This is how the social network manages to unite its users and bring them closer together, thus offering possibilities for interaction.

One of the news now is the end of Nearby Friends and other location-based services. This allowed any user to find all their contacts on a map and thus find out who was closer and more accessible.

Despite not revealing the reason why it is turning off these services, Facebook has already started to alert users for this purpose. To do so, you are using your mobile apps and informing how this process will be carried out.

BUT: Consultório MenosFios: Is Facebook the same as the internet?

Everything points to these services based on the location of users being turned off on May 31. In addition to this moment, Facebook gives users until August 01st for their data to be exported. After that date, the data will be permanently removed from the social network's servers.

By turning off these location-based services, Facebook will offer its users several proposals. Among them, and in addition to Nearby Friends, weather warnings, location history or background location will no longer be accessible.

Despite being a feature that was only accessible to those who activated it, many users ended up using it. This end must have resulted from reduced use or a change in the social network. Even so, Facebook will not fail to collect location data from its users.
