In 2017 Microsoft officially admitted that Windows Phone died while Windows Phone fans expected Microsoft to upgrade the platform with new features for the operating system.

It was already known to many that Facebook applications would be removed from the Windows Phone platform. Now device owners with the Microsoft operating system have begun receiving alerts about the end of support.

O Facebook started alerting Instagram users this week that the application will be retired on 30's April 2019 day, but it looks like it's not the only application in the hack block, a Microsoft spokesman confirmed that Facebook is also abandoning support for all your Windows Phone applications on the same date, including your main application and Facebook Messenger.

As with Instagram, the alternative for any user who continues to use a device with the Windows 10 Mobile operating system will be to visit each Web site through the mobile browser. It is unclear with the information currently available if this will affect Windows 10 applications, but this does not appear to be the case.

Windows 10 Mobile is a few months away from losing Microsoft support, so it's not surprising to see high profile apps coming out of the store. Microsoft is ready to shut down Windows 10 Mobile support in December, which means that you will no longer receive security updates.
