WhatsApp security failure allows people to access groups even without invitation

A group of German researchers have found a way to infiltrate WhatsApp, despite end-to-end encryption and the concern is that the flaw allows people to access group chats, even add new members.

The experts at “Ruhr University Bochum“In Germany they discovered the flaw and in the document, the research authors describe that anyone who controls WhatsApp servers, including company employees, can add members to any group, without the owner of the group in question noticing.

"Whatsapp has yet to comment on this security breach."

Once a new person joins the group, the number of each member of that group automatically starts sharing secret keys with that person and allows full access to all future messages, but not past ones. It is as if the new member has permission from the administrator to join the conversation.

However, no one expects WhatsApp server administrators to do anything like that, but the flaw is serious anyway, as if hackers are able to break the security barriers of these servers, they will have access to group content.
