The lack of qualified professionals in the cybersecurity sector has left Angola vulnerable to computer attacks, according to CyberSecur's Information Security director, Alberto Afonso.

Speaking at the 2022 edition of “CyberSecur Summit”, an event on Corporate Investigation and Cybersecurity in Angola, the expert reported that the country has few qualified countermeasures professionals and fails to identify real threats in the face of various signals, such as the main security vulnerabilities in Angola.

The national director of Cybersecurity Policies and Digital Services, Hecdiantro Mena, who presented the topic “Cybersecurity Strategy Challenges”, assured that Angola has taken actions to attack the problem, pointing as proof of this the approval of the National Cybersecurity Strategy and the institutionalization of the Center for Incident Studies, Responses and Treatment (CIRT).

BUT: SADC will create teams to respond to cyber attacks

The National Cybersecurity Strategy in the country aims to outline policies that guarantee a safe and resilient cyberspace, which complies with the Executive's vision for the period 2022/2027, in identifying cybersecurity actions that make the country safe in a society aware of the problem, in optics of Hecdiantro Mena. The director assured that the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS), through the National Directorate of Cybersecurity and Digital Services, prepared the proposal for a National Strategy that will soon be made available for public consultation.

The country's National Cybersecurity Strategy plan was designed to improve the security, trust and resilience of vital services Infrastructure.

"The objective of the National Cybersecurity Strategy is to promote the conscious, free, safe, efficient use of cyberspace, fundamental rights, freedom of expression, personal data, privacy of citizens, in order to guarantee the security of cyberspace and national critical infrastructures”, he informed.

The II Edition of the “CyberSecur Summit” aimed, in addition to the thematic approach to cybersecurity, to provide strategies to combat computer crimes. The organizers consider that the issue of Cybersecurity is dominant and leads us to think that the ideal is to stop exposing companies in cyberspace. However, they claim that the trend towards digital business transformation demonstrates the complete opposite.
