[FILDA 2023] Africell presents the “e-SIM” services and the “Digital Sim” card at the event

A Africell was one of the telecommunications companies present at the 38th edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA), where it highlighted the “e-SIM” services and the “Sim Digital” Card.

According to what was revealed to MenosFios journalists, the two respective services are available for mobile phones with the capacity to support both the e-SIM and the “physical Sim”.

Unlike conventional chips, the “e-SIM” is not palpable. It works with a QR code scan, which comes behind the document. This makes it possible to install it on the mobile phone and allows access to all the services provided by the network. In addition to the debut of the digital chip, Africel also took the latest models of routers for the Internet services available.

It should be noted that Africell was the first operator to bring the e-SIM service to the country, where to access the innovative service you must first verify that your device (smartphoneSmartWatch, etc) has support for it, only then can you go to an Africell store in Angola, but you must take some identification document (ID card, driving license, or passport) with you to do so.

BUT: Africell arrives in Kwanza Sul province

Is it possible to use a physical SIM and eSIM on the same phone?

The answer is “Yes”, according to Apple, “eSIM is a digital SIM that allows you to activate a single carrier plan without having to use a physical SIM card”. However, despite the name, it is not entirely virtual. This is a chip built into the phone's motherboard during manufacturing. According to some sources, this allows the phone to perform several functions that are not possible on the physical chip, both in terms of utility and security.
