It seems that automotive companies have been betting on the use of HoloLens, a living example was when the Volvo announced that the demonstrations of their cars will be made with HoloLens.

A Ford is expanding its use of HoloLens after a pilot phase. the company is using augmented reality device to enable designers to quickly model changes in cars, trucks and SUVs. This allows designers changes over an existing physical vehicle, rather than the traditional clay for the design of the car.

The company continues to use clay models, but the HoloLens can be used to augment the additional 3D models without having to build each unique prototype design with clay. It's one of the most interesting ways companies use Microsoft's HoloLens, and it's something customers will never see. Several other companies also use HoloLens for training purposes, as well as how virtual reality is used in the same way by businesses.

In addition to helping designers, Ford says that HoloLens' assessments improve the working relationship between design and engineering teams around the world when it comes to determining if a specific part is feasible and meets the engineering criteria.
