GGPEN offers free Space Applications course for Angolan startups

The National Space Program Management Office (GGPEN) will teach, on the next 17th and 18th of May, from 09 am to 13 pm, a free mini-course onSpace Applications for Startups“, during the 13th edition of the ITEL Technological Innovation Fair (FITITEL), which started today (16th) and runs until the 18th.

According to the information that the MenosFios editorial office had access to, this training comes through an invitation made by the management of the Institute of Telecommunications (ITEL), and is part of the objective of showing the potential of the business of space applications in Angola, the use of images data sources and open-source tools for geographic information systems and image processing.

The Startups that will participate in the training course will learn about the steps taken by GGPEN in the development of Space Products and Applications, from the identification of a need to use space applications, the development of case studies, the development of applications and services, validation and making them available on the market.

It should also be informed that a overview of various day-to-day problems that can be solved using space applications (eg monitoring of water resources, floods and drought). In the practical part, a case study will be discussed where procedures on how to download an image, process it in Q-GIS (ArcGIS) and extract the product will be shown.

At the end of this mini-course, participants will be more up-to-date on the potential of developing space applications for startups as a business in Angola.
