Google has just stepped out of its comfort zone and decided to join the battle where companies like Sony and Microsoft dominate better, thus launching its first game streaming platform called “Stadia".

The cloud gaming platform was officially unveiled yesterday (20 March 2019) at the Game Developers Conference event in San Francisco, where Sundar Pichai (CEO of Google) introduced the Stadia Describing it as a platform for everyone.

Sundar Pichai also talked about Google's ambitions to stream games to all types of devices. Stadia will stream games from the cloud to Chrome, Chromecast and Pixel devices, and will be released sometime on 2019 in the US, Canada, UK and Europe.

During the presentation of the platform, he also went on stage Phil Harrison (former Sony and Microsoft executive), where he gave assurances that Google will expand this game streaming service using YouTube and the many creators who already create game videos in the service. Google has previously tested this service as "Flow of projects" in recent months, allowing Chrome users to stream games to their browsers. O Assassin's Creed Odyssey was the first and only game to be tested publicly using the Google service, and public testing ended in January of 2019.

To finish off and make users calmer, the company has ensured that to leverage all this flow in the cloud, Google is leveraging its entire global data center infrastructure to ensure that servers stay as close to the players around the world as possible. This is a key part of Stadia, since low latency is a necessity to effectively stream games over the Internet.
