Google approves Donald Trump's Truth Social network to appear in the Play Store

A Social Truth, the social network of former President of the United States Donald Trump, is available for download from Google Play, the most popular application store for smartphones with Android operating system, since this Wednesday.

Google said in a statement that the republican tycoon's application gained access to the platform because it complies with the company's guidelines, which, among other things, require applications to effectively moderate user-generated content and remove messages that incite violence.

In August, the Google had informed Truth Social that it was not complying with several of its policies and recommended to the social network “effective systems” for moderating user-generated content, one of the essential conditions for gaining access to Google Play.

The company that owns it, Trump Media and Technology Group (TMTG), had already expressed its satisfaction last week that the application was admitted to Samsung's store in the United States, the Galaxy Store.

Truth Social, launched on February 21, was created as an alternative to Twitter, the social network where Trump is still banned, and has been available since the beginning on Apple's App Store, and can also be accessed from 'browsers'.

BUT: Donald Trump could return to Facebook in January 2023

The fact that the app cannot be downloaded so far on Android models has affected around 44% of US smartphone users.

Trump constantly used social networks, especially Twitter, during the 2016 election campaign and as head of state, to communicate with his followers.

The Republican ended up banned from Twitter, Facebook and YouTube after the attack on the Capitol on January 06, 2021, which led to the creation of Truth Social to circumvent this veto.

Currently, Trump is followed by 4,18 million people, compared to the 88,8 million on Twitter and 35,4 million on Facebook before he was banned for encouraging supporters to invade the US Congress to prevent the certification of the electoral victory of Democrat Joe Biden.
