October 2nd marked the end of a phase. It was the last day that Google traded on the stock market with the Google name. Google Inc (the holding company), starting tomorrow the company will officially become Alphabet Inc and its shares will be traded under the new name. Even so, the shares will be traded under the previous symbol: GOOG.

Alphabet will replace Google as the publicly traded entity and will have the same number of shares traded under the symbol GOOG. The current company Google, will be a business unit of Alphabet Inc with a focus on businesses related to the Internet, including businesses with search, YouTube and Android.

And what are the other subsidiaries of Alphabet?

In addition to Google, the Alphabet company (get used to the name), will have: Calico, Nest, Google Capital, Google Ventures, Google Fiber, Life Sciences, Google X lab.

With this division, companies will have more autonomy, for example, Google X, which develops the company's secret searches, where it came from with the stand-alone car, Gooogle Capital and Google Ventures, which will focus on financing startups, will have executives dedicated to supervising the work.

One thing is guaranteed, the holding company Alphabet Inc does not intend to develop products and brands under this name, since there are several companies and products registered with a similar name. It would be to seek costly legal proceedings.
