Google Provides Tool That Enables Applications to Work on Multiple Platforms

A feature previously exclusive for some developers has now been made available to anyone interested. We are talking about “ARC” - App Runtime for Google Chrome - a tool for developers that allows applications to run on any operating system, as long as it has the Chrome browser.

In short, applications that were previously exclusive to Android, will be able to run on Windows, Mac, Linux and Chrome OS. The tool, named ARC Welder, is a Chrome app that converts mobile apps to desktop in just a few clicks, using the APK file of the Android app.

So Google takes a big step towards getting your apps to work on multiple platforms, since Chrome is present in (almost) all of them. You still have to know how these applications perform.

The staff of Ars Technica did a test and apparently the tool works perfectly…
