A Microsoft united with the Google to help bring more used apps on the web to devices Android through the Play Store. Since, both share the same platform (Chromium) to base the source code of their programs and contribute together to improve the project.

This union will make applications created with Microsoft's PWABuilder tool use Google's Bubblewrap utility and library to take advantage of new features, including a new standard for web shortcuts, deeper push notifications and visual customizations.

As is well known, many of the most popular applications and services today are web-based, designed to cover as many databases as possible, even on mobile web browsers. But this does not make them Progressive Web Apps (PWAs) with one click, as they must be properly integrated with the specific characteristics of the underlying operating system (OS).

According to Microsoft, web applications must adapt to smartphones, simplifying users' lives. Expanded resources should not require much more effort to be implemented

Thus, PWAs packaged for the Google Play Store may support web shortcuts that allow users to jump directly to specific sections or parts of the web application. In Windows, these shortcuts appear as jump lists when you right-click the icon on the taskbar. This same list will appear on Android when the application icon button is pressed.

Microsoft wins by providing developers with more reasons to use its tools, while Google attracts more developers to its ecosystem, which creates Android-compatible web applications that work directly on the operating system, and not just through the browser.
