Google has shown great interest in leveraging technology startups in Africa, and for that, decided to extend the program Google Launchpad Accelerator Africa extending it to more 12 African countries.

This extension will include startups from 12 other African countries. That means startups will now be accepted in 18 countries across the continent, including Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria, Morocco, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Cameroon, Botswana, Senegal, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Algeria and the existing six - Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda.

When do the registrations end?

Entries for the 2 Class will be closed on 8 on July 2018. To qualify, startups need to be a technology startup, based in sub-Saharan Africa, targeting the African market. Google further considers the problem the startup is trying to solve, how it creates value for users, and how it addresses a real challenge for their hometown, country or Africa in general.

For those who do not know, Launchpad Accelerator Africa was announced less than a year ago by Google CEO, Sundar Pichai, on Google for Nigeria on July 27. In terms of its ad, the program gives African startups more than 3 million USD in capital-free, workspace support and access to Google, Silicon Valley and Africa expert advisors over the next three years. Participants receive travel and public relations support during each three-month program.
