Google recently reported that only 7,5% of smartphones have Android Marshmallow installed, since it was launched almost 8 months ago, the version is not having the expected success, and the company blames companies that produce smartphones for the failure of their current operating system.

Since the Android N has already been officially announced and is about to hit the market, Google intends to adopt a way to force companies that produce smartphones to make some Android updates available for older models, as companies favor their newest and most expensive models, forgetting most of the public that have some old phones but that support the new versions of Android.

The way that Google intends, will be the disclosure of a list that would create a Ranking where would be indicated the manufacturers of smartphones that are more efficient when it comes to updating their devices. The idea is to encourage a competition between companies to figure better in the ranking and avoid a bad placement. If the list becomes popular, companies with the lowest prices may lose customers.

Unfortunately there are still no certainties that Google will take the draft of the paper, but would be a plus, so many smartphones would already have the latest version of Android installed.

Will this list be published?
