Google promotes innovations in Captcha

CAPTCHA

If you want to register for a new online service, a box with a few distorted letters will probably appear on the registration form. The system will prompt you to recognize the letters and insert them into a text box.

This is the famous test to “separate” humans and machines. To be more didactic, we can find the definition in the free encyclopedia:

CAPTCHA is an acronym for the expression “Completely Automated Public Turing test to tell Computers and Humans Apart”(Fully automated public Turing test for differentiation between computers and humans): a cognitive challenge test, used as an anti-spam tool…

The fact is that this test can be really annoying (and difficult for some people). Thinking about it, Google decided to promote innovations in this service. With that change, the user will only need to click on a checkbox to indicate that he is a human, then Google will evaluate and decide whether it is or not. This facility results from the new API of reCaptcha (the Captcha managed by Google), which gained a new way to analyze the usage behavior of the page where this mechanism is applied.

If the system has any doubts, the normal process will be triggered in which the user will have to enter some text, difficult to read, to prove that he is really a person and not a machine eager to spread spam.

Mobile devices have not been forgotten, now they will have a verification system based on images, that is, affinities between them must be selected and identified.

This new API is available for systems with WordPress e Snapchat and will soon be available on more platforms.

Will spammers get around this system?
