The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS) decided to extend the deadline for submitting proposals for the public tender for the sub-concession of public service for the exploration and management of Angola Telecom's national and metropolitan transport infrastructure, according to the official statement from the ministry, and to which MenosFios had access.

The public tender, which has been running since the 14th of September of the current year, and which should end 60 days after the date of the announcement, under the terms of Dispatch No. 4137/21, has thus increased the number of days for interested parties. submit their candidacies by the 30th of November, and where in the same note MINTTICS says that this extension of the deadline is so that it can allow and guarantee better participation by interested parties, taking into account the provisions of paragraph 3 of article 65 º of Law No. 41/20, of December 23 – Public Procurement Law.

It should be noted that the national executive launched, in September, the international public tender, for the exploitation, for 15 years, of the transport infrastructure (Backbone) national and of the metropolitan networks of Angola Telecom.

BUT: Angola Telecom registers losses of 50 million USD in 2020

According to the MINTTICS itself, the competition aims to capture investment and 'know-how' from the private sector for the management, exploration and expansion of infrastructure, as well as the training of staff assigned to Angola Telecom. It should also be added that the partnership will contribute in a realistic and transversal way to the country's economic and social dynamism and growth.

The increased stability and availability of infrastructure, the development of the digital economy and the economy in general, combined with the potential of a population in which 66 percent is under 25 years old and an annual population growth rate, which until 2034 estimates higher than 3,0 percent, will ensure a converging growth for the telecommunications market, also bringing higher levels of profitability to investors, says the ministry itself.

Finally, it should also be noted that the tender will culminate in the signing of a sub-concession contract that will have a validity period of 15 years.

Angola Telecom EP is the national public telecommunications operator, 100 percent owned by the Angolan State and with representation throughout the entire national territory.
