Government recognizes ICTs’ commitment to proximity to citizens

The Angolan Executive recognized that Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) impose a new attitude in the close relationship between the Executive and citizens.

For the Secretary of State for Telecommunications Information Technologies, Pascoal Borges Alé Fernandes, speaking on Digital Transformation, with the theme Telecommunications, Digitalization and Financial Inclusion, said that in order to achieve this endeavor, it is necessary, with the support of ICTs, to continue supporting initiatives that allow the promotion and financial inclusion within society, regardless of its location.

"Angola has investments in ICT Infrastructures, which allow electronic communications operators to create a mobile wallet, which allows deposits, consultations, withdrawals, instant value transfers and the purchase of various products via mobile phone”, said Pascoal Fernandes.

The secretary stressed that ICTs play a significant role in transforming the relationship between the Executive (government) and citizens, promoting greater proximity and interaction between both parties.

In his speech, the secretary mentioned some ways in which ICTs have influenced this relationship.

"ICTs make government information more accessible to citizens. Through government portals, websites, mobile apps and social networks, people can access a wide range of information, including policies, programs, public services, budgets and open government data“, he emphasized.
