The Swedish manufacturer of telecommunications equipment Ericsson has announced that it will suspend all its business in Russia.

"In light of recent events and EU sanctions, the company will suspend its affected business with customers in Russia indefinitely.”, reads in the Ericsson statement shared by Reuters.

It should be noted that the company's workers will continue to be paid as long as Ericsson maintains its operations suspended in the country, without forgetting that the technology company had already stopped delivering equipment to customers in Russia.

Apple banned app from the biggest Russian bank

Apple will remove the official application of Sberbank (considered the largest Russian bank) from its App Store, reveals Nexta from its Twitter page.

The company took this decision due to sanctions imposed on Russia due to the conflict in Ukraine, measures that tend to 'attack' the financial capacity of the government led by Putin.

When consulting the App Store, it is possible to see that Sberbank apps are still present in some countries. However, the Russian version does not appear to be available.

"The Sberbank app is no longer available for download or update due to sanctions. It continues to work for those who already have it installed”, can also be read in Nexta's publication.

Nokia announced that it will leave Russia

In a statement, the Finnish telecommunications equipment manufacturer, which had already suspended deliveries to Russia in early March, now announces “that it will leave the Russian market”.

Russia accounted for "less than 2%" of Nokia's revenue in 2021 and the group says it is maintaining its financial forecast for 2022 "due to strong demand in other regions", according to the statement.

On Monday, its Swedish competitor Ericsson announced that it would indefinitely suspend its activities in Russia and that it would put its 600 employees on paid leave.

The departure of the two European companies paves the way for the number one in the world, the Chinese Huawei. The three telecom groups share most of the 4G and 5G network market worldwide.

Hundreds of companies, mostly Western, have announced the suspension of their activities or their withdrawal from Russia since the invasion of Ukraine on February 24 and the implementation of significant sanctions on Moscow.
