Guinea-Bissau with internet problems in the last 48 hours

A Guinea-Bissau has been having internet access problems for 48 hours, with the two operators that provide the service trying to resolve the problem, which they claim originated abroad.

Contacted by Lusa, sources from the only two operators that provide the internet to Guinea-Bissau, both companies with completely foreign capital, indicated that technicians are working to resolve the problem.

Throughout the day on Tuesday, the two companies sent text messages to customers lamenting the situation and promising a quick resolution.

"Dear customer, we inform you that work to reestablish the internet connection is still ongoing. We deeply regret the inconvenience caused“, says, in a statement, one of the operators.

BUT: Guinea-Bissau will receive internet via submarine cable

The other operator is still providing internet service sporadically, although it is only sufficient for some voice calling and text sending applications.

It is only possible to access some internet signal for customers who have a fixed antenna, which is no longer possible for those using mobile data.

A source from this company, whose main headquarters is in Senegal, explained to Lusa that “through backup” from Dakar it has been possible to obtain some internet signal.

The same source predicted that the service would be restored on Tuesday, which did not happen.
