Hackers attack Outlook and may have gathered data from 30 million customers. The hacker group Anonymous Sudan allegedly attacked the US technology giant Microsoft and demanded a ransom of one million dollars so as not to expose the company's vulnerabilities and customer data. This attack was detected by the Portuguese cybersecurity company TVisionWare's Heat Intelligence Center, which says that the group will have claimed to have access to more than 30 million customer data.
“It should be noted that the 30 million pieces of data they hold are still speculation, since they have not yet published any proof of them”, emphasizes Bruno Castro, CEO of Visionware, to the weekly. Hackers will have attacked the Outlook email service this Monday and Tuesday, cutting access to thousands of users, mainly North Americans. According to Downdetector, Microsoft services were inaccessible to more than 15 users on Tuesday.
Microsoft has attributed the Outlook access disruptions to technical issues, as detailed in a series of Twitter posts. The technological giant reported through the social network that mitigation measures were applied to stabilize the situation. Despite its telemetry systems indicating that the service has stabilized again, Microsoft stressed that the incident was not fully resolved and that it would continue to monitor what happened.
Our telemetry indicates that the service has remained largely stable; however, the incident is not fully resolved. We're broadening our mitigation strategy and will continue to intervene immediately should we detect further reductions in the availability of our services.

The Sudan-based group of pro-Russia “hacktivists” says it has started a new campaign dedicated to targeting US businesses and infrastructure. They have also been responsible for attacks on international organizations and critical infrastructure in EU and NATO countries.
