The social network X was in trouble this Monday, the 10th, with the owner of the platform, Elon Musk, having stated hours later in an interview with Fox News that it was a “massive cyberattack” originating in the region of Ukraine.
However, Forbes now reports that the attack was claimed by a pro-Palestinian hacktivist group known as Dark Storm – a possibility that, in the opinion of Nicholas Reese, an adjunct professor at the Center for Global Affairs at New York University's School of Professional Studies.

The professor stated that, given the short duration of these attacks, “it doesn’t make much sense” that the person responsible is any state.
"There are two types of cyberattacks – those that are designed to be visible and those that are carried out very discreetly. And usually the most valuable ones are the ones that are the most discreet. Something like [the cyberattack on X] was designed to be discovered. So to me it certainly eliminates states. The value they would gain from this is quite low.", Reese told The Associated Press.
The assistant professor further noted that "cannot be proven" Musk's claims without checking the technical data of social network X and considered that the possibilities of X sharing this information are "very low".
